Security and Privacy Tips

  • Find a private and quiet place for your telehealth session
  • Use a personal computer or mobile device that is not connected to your workplace or public setting, as these may be unsecured or public networks
  • Make sure your computer or mobile device is current with security updates
  • Use strong, unique passwords and change your password regularly
  • Turn on the lock screen function to prevent anyone from getting access to your health information that may be stored on your computer or mobile device
  • Delete health or other sensitive information from your computer or mobile device when you no longer need it to reduce the risk someone will see this information
  • Use two-step authentication (e.g., an authentication app to send a number to your email or phone) to protect your privacy
  • Use encryption which makes your information unreadable by anyone who does not have the right key or password
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks and any USB ports at public charging stations
  • If you’re suspicious of a link or have any doubts about a link, contact your therapist right away to ask if the link she has sent is valid
